Categories and subcategories on Flowwow help organise the product range and allow customers to find what they need faster. For sellers, selecting the correct category is crucial – it ensures your product reaches the right audience on the platform. Choosing the wrong category could result in your listing failing moderation, requiring you to repeat the process, which can cost valuable time.

We’ve provided a detailed guide on each category in a separate article. Here, we’ll address tricky situations and answer common questions about category selection.

Where Should Gift Sets with Flowers Be Categorised?

For sets that include a bouquet along with balloons, toys, candles, a box of chocolate-covered strawberries, or similar items, these should always be placed in flower-related subcategories depending on the type of bouquet (e.g., mono bouquets, florist’s specials etc.). Adding flower sets to the ‘Gift Sets’ subcategory is incorrect and should be avoided.

If a set includes four or more items packaged together in a single box, basket, or other unified arrangement, it can be placed in the ‘Flowers’ > ‘Gift Sets’ subcategory. Take this gift set as an example:

If the flowers are presented as a separate composition within the set, the correct category is ‘Flowers,’ and the subcategory should be chosen based on the type of bouquet.

If the flowers are used as decoration in a box, the correct category is ‘Confectionery & Bakery,’ and the subcategory should be selected based on the type of dessert.

However, there is an exception: chocolate-covered berries with flowers should be placed in the ‘Flowers’ category > ‘Flowers in a Box’ subcategory. For example, like these:

Handmade treats presented in boxes (essentially packaged like sweets) should also be placed in the ‘Confectionery & Bakery’ category – like these:

The ‘Edible Bouquets’ category will include items that are made and packaged like a bouquet, for example, those assembled on skewers. The subcategory should be selected depending on the type of dessert.

Which Category Do Strawberry Bouquets Fall Under?

Strawberry bouquets should be classified under the ‘Edible Bouquets’ category > ‘Berry Bouquets’ subcategory. This will also include bouquets made from other chocolate-covered berries, as well as baskets or hat boxes packed as berry bouquets on skewers.

Chocolate-covered strawberry sets and other berry sets in regular gift boxes should be placed in the category ‘Confectionery & Bakery’ > ‘Chocolate Dipped Strawberries’ subcategory.

What Are Complementary Products and How to Add Them?

Complementary products enhance the main purchase from a specific category, creating a pleasant or useful combination. For example:

  1. For floral arrangements: vases, plant food, small souvenir toys, keychains, balloons, small boxes of chocolates and other sweets (chocolate bars, gift lollipops), and soft toys.
  2. For live plants: pots, drainage, soil, and fertilisers, everything for plant care
  3. For confectionery: additional decorations, candles for cakes/pastries, tea or coffee (in gift packaging), small sets of other sweets, fortune cookies
  4. For tea and coffee shops: Turkish coffee pots, coffee grinders, tea cups, thermoses, teapots, tea strainers, filter or craft bags, jams, sweets (dragees, chocolates, lollipops, pastries, etc.), gift sets with cups, spoons, and saucers
  5. For tableware: tea and coffee sets, you can also add sweets (jam, chocolate, dragees, etc.)
  6. For candles and diffusers: stands, matches, extinguishing candle caps, incense, DIY candle-making kits
  7. For posters and paintings: frames, transport covers, packaging
  8. For accessories and jewellery: organisers, storage bags and cases, mirrors, care products
  9. For cosmetics: handbags and makeup bags, combs, mirrors, makeup accessories (sponges, brushes, scissors, tweezers), lip balms, wet and mattifying wipes
  10. For pet products: treats for pets, hygiene bags, puppy pads

While additional products are more impulsive, spontaneous purchases, complementary products meet the customer’s needs. It’s a good idea to add these products to your catalogue as both primary and additional items. This way, customers will see them not only during checkout in the ‘People also ordered’ section but while browsing your shop’s display as well. This increases the likelihood of a purchase.

How to add:

  1. Select all the complementary products you want to add to your catalogue.
  2. Add them just like main products: choose a category and subcategory and fill in the product details.
  3. Highlight 2-3 of the complementary products, and add them to your catalogue as both main and additional items.

What Are Additional Products and How to Add Them?

Additional products (or add-ons) are those you can offer with any item in your shop. An analogy would be the checkout zone in a supermarket, where you find gum, chocolates, candies, and other small items that a customer might pick up as a nice addition to their main purchase.

On Flowwow, these can be various accessories for gift decoration and product packaging. They are relevant across all categories and are commonly added to orders by customers: greeting cards, wish cards, gift bags, shoppers, and other packaging materials (stickers, ribbons, bows, etc.).

These products don’t appear in the main catalogue – only in the cart when the customer is checking out.

To add an additional product to the catalogue in the app or the web version:

  1. Go to the ‘Items’ section
  2. Click on the ‘Create item’
  3. In the list of main categories, find the white icon with a plus sign and the label ‘Add-on item’ at the end of the list
  4. Click on the plus sign and upload a photo of the product, add a name, specify the price, and choose where the product will appear for the customer

Correctly selecting the category and subcategory on the Flowwow platform is a crucial step for successfully listing products. This process helps buyers find the right items quickly and sellers avoid mistakes that could delay moderation. By following the recommendations in this article, you will be able to correctly classify complex product sets and effectively highlight complementary and additional products. This will make it easier for customers to find what they need and increase your sales through optimal shop organisation.
